For $196 the ASUS 900AX-BLK028X is one of the cheapest netbooks you’re likely to find. While the Intel Atom N270 (1.6GHz) is a slow processor, it’s still enough for word processing, surfing the internet, and running the included Windows XP operating system. It’s not as advanced as Windows 7 Starter, but it’s still functional enough for what this netbook has to do.
Onboard graphics and 1GB of RAM limit you to more casual games, and the 160GB hard drive should be enough to store a respectable amount of files and programs. The 8.9in (1024x600 resolution) screen is a bit smaller than average, but it’s not going to impact visibility in any major way. At 1.13kg it’s very light, and it’s small as well with a width of 225mm, depth of 170mm, and thickness of 34mm.
This netbook is a no frills way to get some proper computing power in a very small package. The price is genuinely incredible, so if you need portable computing then buy this one right away.
