For $429 at the Good Guys the 10.1in ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 (16GB) is a really slick Android Honeycomb tablet for a very low price. Even without the keyboard dock you’re still getting a quality product that combines sturdy build quality, a great screen and snappy performance. It feels really solid overall, and the backing plate's mildly textured surface gives a good amount of grip.

The 10.1in (1,280x800 resolution) capacitive screen is a real pleasure to use, and Android Honeycomb (at last check version 3.2) runs really smoothly on thanks to the NVIDIA Tegra 2 T250 (1GHz) processor and 1GB of RAM. The 16GB SSD isn’t a huge amount of storage, but there’s a Micro SD card reader that can easily expand the storage by 16GB or more.

A headphone jack and a Micro HDMI port round out the ports fairly well, but unfortunately there’s no Micro USB 2.0 port at all which for some may be an issue. The hardware functionality is definitely good though; the TF101 has front and rear cameras, a microphone, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi so it hasn't skimped on any of the important fundamentals. Overall the TF101 is light at 680 grams, so you’ll have no problems at all carrying it around with you.
