The deal: ASUS G73SW - well-priced Sandy Bridge gaming notebook - $2,299.00
Gaming notebooks don’t often crop up at major retailers, but WOW Sight and Sound are offering the very impressive ASUS G73SW-FHD-TZ017V for an equally impressive price of just $2,299. It’s a lot to pay, but the specs do easily justify the asking price.
The G73SW has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M graphics card, so even demanding new games like Crysis 2 will run smoothly at high settings. Backing this graphics card up is a very powerful Sandy Bridge Intel Core i7-2630QM (2GHz) and a whopping 8GB of RAM. Not only can the G73SW run demanding games, it can happily multi-task with intensive programs as well.
Storage will never be an issue with G73SW thanks to the huge 1,500GB hard disk drive. It’s good to have due to the inclusion of a Blu-ray burner; Full HD movies are very large, so having the room to store them is a good thing. The last main spec of note is the 17.3in Full HD screen, which will work great with games, Blu-ray movies, or even just having several intensive programs open at once. Portability is low, because the G73SW weighs 3.85kg and measures 56.8mm thick. The 310mm depth and 420mm width are about normal given the screen size though.
