For $1,699 the 17.3in ASUS G74SX-FHD-TZ130V offers unbelievably good value for money. The specs are top notch, with the standout being the powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M dedicated graphics card. It’s powerful enough to run games at full detail on the huge full HD screen, and a Blu-ray player is also included to make it easy to watch high-quality Blu-ray movies. The physically imposing gaming notebook also feels really solid, so you’re getting good build quality along with equally good specs.

We're not sure when the special expires, but from our experience with these kinds of sales we'd say it'll likely end on Sunday.

Processor
The G74SX features a 2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2630QM (2GHz), a top-of-the-range processor that is able to run intensive software and productivity applications without any difficulty. It can burst up to 2.9GHz using Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology if a particularly demanding program is running.

Graphics
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M is one of the more powerful discrete graphics cards you can get in a laptop that will easily run most modern games at high to ultra-high settings. Putting this into perspective most notebooks can barely run intensive games at low to medium settings, let along high and ultra-high ones.

RAM
8GB of RAM is double what most laptops come with, and obviously is geared to good gaming performance. Aside from games, all that RAM is plenty to run many programs at once fluidly or very intensive software with no difficulty.

Storage
An enormous 1,500GB (or 1.5 Terabytes) of hard disk drive storage will let you store heaps of media content, including ripped Blu-ray movies.

Screen
The 17.3in (1,920x1,080 resolution) gloss screen is large and with the Full HD resolution you want for gaming and Blu-ray movies, although the gloss finish does make using it outside difficult due to reflections.

Portability
Not surprisingly for a big gaming notebook, the G74SX isn’t really very portable, because it weighs a massive 4.28kg and is 62mm thick! This will likely live on a desk and only move around if absolutely necessary.

Other Features
The G74SX has a Blu-ray player, which allows it to play Blu-ray on the massive 17.3in full HD screen.
