For $1,395.80 the 17.3in ASUS G74SX-FHD-TZ130V is one of the most affordable gaming notebooks we’ve seen. The lowest it had been before was $1,595, already a spectacular price considering the computing power on offer. This gaming powerhouse harbours a powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M dedicated graphics card together with a 2nd Gen Intel Core i7 and 8GB of RAM. That’s going to be plenty for modern gaming and pretty much any other task.
For entertainment purposes the G74SX has a Blu-ray player, which goes together really well with the large full HD screen. So a great gaming machine that also lets you watch Blu-ray movies in their native resolution. Probably the only negative is that this notebook weighs a hefty 4.28kg, so while it’s possible to carry around it’s not really that portable either.

See a summary of the specs below.
ProcessorThe G74SX features a 2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2630QM (2GHz), a high-end processor that is able to run intensive software and productivity applications without any difficulty. It can burst up to 2.9GHz using Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology if a particularly demanding program is running.
GraphicsIt comes with a dedicated graphics card called the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M. This is an entry-level high-end card that will easily run most modern games at high to ultra-high settings.
RAM8GB of RAM is enough to either run many programs at once fluidly or run very intensive image and video editing software.
Storage1,500GB of hard disk drive storage is enormous, and can store heaps of media content and other files.
ScreenThe G74SX sports a 17.3in (1,920 x 1,080 resolution) gloss screen. This is the native resolution of Blu-ray movies, so they’ll be shown in their full glory.
PortabilityThe G74SX isn’t really very portable, because it weighs 4.28kg and is 62mm thick. This will likely live on a desk and only move around if absolutely necessary.
