The 14in ASUS X44L-VX003V is a well-specced basic notebook that’s very well priced at $464. It weighs less than most other basic notebooks thanks to the smaller screen, but with both 4GB of RAM and a 2nd Gen Intel Core i3 it can still handle productivity applications and programs as well as its heavier 15.6in screen brethren.
Powering the X44L is a 2nd Gen Intel Core i3-2310M (2.1GHz) processor, and while the integrated graphics aren’t massively powerful they can still handle newer games at low settings. The X44LY also has a reasonably large 500GB hard disk drive, so despite being so affordable this basic notebook hasn’t skimped on the fundamentals.
Where the X44L sets itself apart is that it weighs only 2.44kg, which is below average compared to just about any other basic notebook. This makes it a compelling choice for those that need enhanced portability, because the X44L is easier to carry around but it doesn’t sacrifice computing power.
