The Compaq Presario CQ62-227TU for $598 is the kind of notebook you get when a netbook doesn’t cut it. While it only has an Intel Pentium T4500 (2.3 GHz) processor, this is still much faster than even the best Intel Atom processors. Everything else is respectable for the price; onboard graphics, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and happily enough a 15.6in (1366x768 resolution) screen. You won’t have to squint to watch HD movies or manage spreadsheets.
At 2.5kg it’s about twice as heavy as a netbook, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t carry this notebook around. The physical measurements only back this up, as it’s 374mm wide, 246mm deep, and 36.8mm thick. For this price you can’t go wrong with this one.
