The Compaq Presario CQ62-227TU is a more than okay low end notebook, and for $596 you won’t need to spend much to get one. While the lack of a dedicated graphics processor rules out modern games, the Intel Pentium T4500 2.3 MHz processor still provides enough grunt to watch HD movies and surf the internet. 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and a 15.6in (1366x768 resolution) screen all round out the specs nicely.
At 2.5kg this is about average; it’s still portable, but it’s no netbook. The same story can be told about it’s measurements; with 374mm width, 246mm depth, and 36.8mm thickness you can lug it around, but not as easily as netbooks. That being said, for $596 it costs about the same as a netbook while providing much better overall specs. If you’re on a budget and need a capable notebook for general computing, this is the one for you.
