The deal: Compaq Presario CQ62-227TU - netbook's bigger brother - $663.00
The Compaq Presario CQ62-227TU for $663 is essentially a netbook’s bigger brother, but this isn’t a bad thing at all. An Intel Pentium T4500 CPU might be an older model, but it has a much higher clock speed than the Intel Atom CPUs seen in netbooks, so even with only basic onboard graphics this notebook will handle general computing without struggling. Video editing and gaming are out though. The other specs are typical for notebooks of this pricepoint, including a 320GB HDD, 2GB RAM, and a 15.6in (1366x768) screen. It also has Windows 7 Home Premium, which is a better version of Windows than you'd typically get on a netbook, and provides features like Media Centre for playback of music and videos and TV recording if you buy a USB digital TV tuner.
It’s physically average also, weighing 2.5kg and measuring 374x246x36.8 mm. This notebook has limitations but given the price, it need not be ashamed of them. If what you need is a more powerful netbook - and ultraportability isn't important to you - then consider this notebook carefully.
