The deal: Compaq Presario CQ62 - low price entry level notebook - $598.00
The Compaq Presario CQ62-227TU is a fine entry level notebook for just $598. Now admittedly the Intel Pentium T4500 is an older, slower processor, but it still handily outpaces the Intel Atom processors in the netbooks beneath it. Chuck in 2GB of RAM and a 320GB hard drive, and you’ve got the horsepower needed to run Windows 7 Home Premium without any trouble. Onboard graphics limit you to only much older games, but you’ll still be able to watch movies and surf the internet. The screen is also very good for the price, measuring 15.6in with a 1366x768 resolution.
It’s about twice as heavy as most netbooks though, weighing 2.5kg. It can’t compete for size either, as it’s 374mm wide, 246mm deep, and 36.8mm thick. This aside it’s still a very respectable entry level notebook, and for $598 it’s a genuine bargain to boot.
