HP 3030TX - allrounder in ultraportable form

The deal: HP 3030TX - allrounder in ultraportable form - $949.00

Added 03 August 2011

It’s heavier and larger than most ultraportables, but for $949 at the Laptop Factory Outlet the 14in HP Pavilion dv4-3030TX is a good value powerhouse. It has a full voltage Intel Core i7 that’s joined by a dedicated graphics card good enough to run Crysis 2 at high settings, and a massive 750GB hard disk drive. This is an allrounder in the body of an ultraportable!

The full voltage Intel Core i7-2620M clocks in at a high 2.7GHz, but for more intensive tasks like gaming it ramps up to a very high 3.4GHz using Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology. Together with an AMD Radeon HD 6750M dedicated graphics card and 4GB of RAM the 3030TX won’t have any trouble with modern gaming or intensive programs like full HD video editors.

A 14in (1,366x768 resolution) screen is large enough for gaming and productivity applications, and leads to the 3030TX weighing just 2.22kg. It’s also only 28.1mm thick, which is impressive when you see what goodies have been crammed inside.
