The deal: HP 3030TX - well- priced 2nd Gen Core i7 ultraportable - $1,294.00
For $1,294 the 14in HP Pavilion dv4-3030TX is an ultraportable notebook for those who want portability without sacrificing computing power. It has a strong graphics card, a 2nd Generation Intel Core i7 and a massive 750GB hard disk drive. For a notebook that weighs only 2.22kg this is serious power that’s enough for really demanding programs or even high-end gaming.
An AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics card is powerful even by the standards of full-sized 15.6in notebooks, and it’s enough to run new games like Crysis 2 at high settings. To further help performance there’s a 2nd Generation Intel Core i7-2620M (2.7GHz) processor, a member of Intel’s high-end processor family. A very helpful feature is the Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 that allows the processor to ramp up to 3.4GHz if a demanding program is running, and it can also quickly go back down to the normal 2.7GHz clock speed when not under load in order to extend battery life.
A welcome feature in the 3030TX us the massive 750GB hard disk drive, which is a size normally found only in entertainment notebooks. The 14in (1,366x768 resolution) screen is larger than the screen in most ultraportables, and the increased size makes it easier to work with productivity applications or watch videos.
