For $367 the HP Mini 110-3538tu is the netbook to get right now if you need respectable computing power on the go. The Intel Atom N550 is one of the fastest netbook processors currently available, and there aren’t any gaps to be found in the specs.

The Intel Atom N550 (1.5GHz) is key to this netbook’s success. Compared to the previous generation Intel Atom N450 or N455 it’s a significantly faster processor. Light productivity work is easily accommodate, and in the current market you’re not actually paying more for the enhanced performance on offer here. There’s onboard graphics to make some low-end casual gaming possible, but it’s old school puzzle games all the way.

The other specs start off with 1GB of RAM, which is standard for netbooks.  For that matter so is the 10.2in (1,024x600 resolution) screen, which works decently with the kinds of computing tasks this netbook is built for. An unusual plus this far below the $400 mark is a 250GB hard drive, as big as you’ll normally get in a netbook and sufficient to store plenty of files relating to those productivity applications mentioned earlier.  Portability is excellent with the HP 3538tu, as it weighs a mere 1.36kg, and measures 23.5mm thick 194mm deep, and 258mm wide.
