The deal: HP 4023TX - 2nd Gen Core i7 allrounder with extra RAM - $888.00
For $888 the 15.6in HP Pavilion dv6-4023TX is an excellent value allrounder. A 2nd Generation Intel Core i7 and powerful AMD graphics card alone would be great for the price, but Harvey Norman has also doubled the RAM up to a colossal 8GB. It may have a small hard disk drive, but this is a high-spec notebook selling for a price normally found on lower-spec machines.
The 2nd Generation Intel Core i7-2630QM (2GHz) is impressive because it’s one of Intel’s high-end processors. One helpful feature in this processor is the hyper-threading technology that allows each of the four cores to tackle two tasks at once, which along with the hefty 8GB of RAM means the 4023TX will smoothly run even highly demanding programs like full HD video editors. Video games are easily handled by the AMD Radeon HD 6570M graphics card, because it can run newer titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops at high settings.
The only compromise in the 4023TX is the small 320GB hard disk drive, and while it will be sufficient for normal usage it’s likely that many people will want to supplement it with an external USB hard disk drive. One surprise with the 4023TX is that it’s a fairly slim 30.8mm thick and weighs a slightly below average 2.51kg.
