HP 6011TX - high-end allrounder with huge screen

The deal: HP 6011TX - high-end allrounder with huge screen - $1,587.00

Added 02 August 2011

For $1,587 the 17.3in HP Pavilion DV7-6011TX is a powerful desktop replacement. There’s 1,000GB of hard disk drive storage, a dedicated graphics card good enough to run Crysis 2 at high settings and a powerful Intel Core i7 processor. There’s even a Blu-ray player, so while not cheap you’re still getting a lot of notebook for your money.

The Intel Core i7-2630QM (2GHz) processor is well at home in such a huge notebook. It’s got Hyper-Threading Technology that allows each of the processors four cores to handle two tasks at once, which together with 8GB of RAM means that multi-tasking performance will be excellent. Storage is unlikely to ever be an issue, because the 6011TX gives you a 1,000GB hard disk drive to play with.

The 17.3in (1,600x900 resolution) screen also gets put to good use by the AMD Radeon HD 6770M dedicated graphics card that is practically fit for a gaming notebook. While the screen isn’t full HD, movies played from the in-built Blu-ray player will still look terrific. Although slender at 31.6mm thick, the 3.05kg weight of the 6011TX does ensure it’ll spend most of its life on a desk.
