The deal: HP 6012TX - Intel Core i7 allrounder with cavernous HDD - $1,698.30
For $1,698.30 the 17.3in HP Pavilion DV7-6012TX is an epic desktop replacement notebook that’s really good value for money. It’s got a better than average processor and dedicated graphics card, but the real treat is the 2,000GB of hard disk drive storage. You’re unlikely to ever run out of room even if you make heavy use of the in-built Blu-ray burner. However, this special expires on Monday so be quick!
Encoding movies ripped using the Blu-ray burner will be straightforward thanks to the high-end Intel Core i7-2720QM (2.2GHz) processor. It’s got Hyper-Threading Technology that allows each of the four cores to perform two tasks at once, and together with a tremendous 8GB of RAM the 6012TX can blitz through intensive programs either one at a time or several at once.
The 17.3in (1,600x900 resolution) screen gets used for more than multi-tasking though. There’s an AMD Radeon HD 6770M, a powerful dedicated graphics card that can run new games like Crysis 2 on high settings without any difficulty. Overall the 6012TX weighs 3.05kg, so while not exactly immobile it should still be on a desk more often than not.
