HP Mini 3627TU - cheap yet mighty netbook

The deal: HP Mini 3627TU - cheap yet mighty netbook - $324.70

Added 01 May 2011

The HP Mini 110-3627TU is fairly powerful by netbook standards, and for $324.70 it’s cheaper than alternatives that have slower processors. Those that want to use productivity applications while on the move should carefully consider this product, as even though a tablet is lighter the low price and dedicated keyboard still make the 3627TU an attractive option. This special ends on Monday though, so move quickly if you’re interested.

It has an Intel Atom N570 (1.86GHz) processor that is powerful enough for tasks like word processing or surfing the internet. With only 1GB of RAM only one or maybe two such programs can be smoothly run at once though, but Windows 7 Starter is still going to be running more than competently.

A 250GB hard disk drive provides a moderate amount of storage, but given that the 3627TU weighs just 1.31kg and measures 32mm thick it’s clear that anything bigger wouldn’t really fit. The screen is a small 10.1in (1,024x600 resolution) model that will nonetheless work respectably well for productivity applications.
