The deal: HP Pavilion dv6-3032TX - mighty sub $1400 Core i7 allrounder notebook - $1,394.00
The HP Pavilion dv6-3032TX may not be an entertainment notebook due to the lack of a Blu-Ray reader and a TV tuner, but for $1394 it’s still a very potent allrounder notebook. Headlining the great specs is an Intel Core i7-720QM processor, one of the best processors on the market in terms of computing speed. An ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics card may not be the pinnacle of ATI’s offerings, but it’s still near the top. Even the most modern games like Metro 2033 will run on low settings without any trouble. For that matter, video editing and even hefty general computing like dealing with very large photo libraries shouldn’t raise a fuss.
You also get a large 640GB hard drive and an uncommonly huge 6GB of RAM. The 15.6in (1366x768) screen is only okay by comparison, as it could probably be at a higher resolution. This notebook isn’t especially portable either, weighing 2.49kg and measuring 378x308x36mm. However, these criticisms are moot when you consider how powerful this package is for the price. It's a notebook that can be a comprehensive replacement for a desktop PC (as long as gaming is not your #1 priority) with fair portability – even if it's not exactly thin and light.
