The deal: HP Pavilion - allrounder with strong specs for a very reasonable price - $849.00
For $849 the 15.6in HP Pavilion dv6-6024TX is a high-end allrounder that for the price is highly competitive even against modern equivalents. Basically the specs inside are still comparable to HP's latest iterations of their Pavilion line, and while there have been two refreshes of the Pavilion line since the release of the 6024TX the changes have mostly been subtle like Beats Audio. The 2nd Gen Intel Core i7 in the 6024TX is still in use today, the dedicated graphics card is still really powerful and also appears in current HP Pavilion models, and given that the 6024TX only costs a bit more than a mid-range allrounder it’s clear that it’s very good value for money.
An AMD Radeon HD 6770M dedicated graphics card hits really hard, and it’s more than able to play modern games at high settings. For more productive purposes there’s a 2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2630QM (2GHz) processor, and it can run intensive programs without difficulty. If something more demanding comes along it can use Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology to speed up to 2.9GHz, making the 6024TX a real powerhouse.
There’s 4GB of RAM to aid multi-tasking and games performance, and for storage there’s a large 750GB hard disk drive. Portability isn’t exceptional, but at 2.63kg it’s still possible to carry the 6024TX around without too much trouble.
