HP Pavilion dv6-6041TX - affordable allrounder with decent graphics

The deal: HP Pavilion dv6-6041TX - affordable allrounder with decent graphics - $592.00

Added 04 November 2011

For only $592 the 15.6in HP Pavilion dv6-6041TX is an interesting allrounder that’s good value for money. While the storage is a bit on the small side and the dedicated graphics card is low-end the price tag is also lower than most other allrounders, so if you run programs that need a dedicated graphics card the 6041TX is a compelling and affordable option.

There are two compromises made in order to drive the price down. First is a 320GB hard disk drive, which is much smaller than the 500GB or even 640GB HDDs common in other allrounders. The other one is using an AMD Radeon HD 6490M dedicated graphics card, which is not very powerful. It’s still enough for light gaming and programs that need a dedicated graphics card though, so the compromise is ultimately fair.

A 2nd Gen Intel Core i5-2410M (2.3GHz) processor is great for the price though, because it is easily powerful enough for productivity applications and more demanding programs. One area that hasn’t been skimped on is RAM, because the 6041TX has a full 4GB that ensures multi-tasking with programs will go smoothly.
