For only $849 the 15.6in HP Pavilion DV6-6134TX is a good value mid-range allrounder thanks to its distinctly high-end dedicated graphics card. Although the storage is a bit smaller than average, overall the specs on offer are very compelling for the price.
The high-end dedicated graphics card in question is the AMD Radeon HD 6770M, which should have no troubles running modern games at the highest settings on the 15.6in (1,366x768 resolution) screen. The 2nd Gen Intel Core i5-2410M (2.3GHz) processor is also a powerful component, particularly given that it can speed up to 2.9GHz using Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology. The icing on the cake is 4GB of RAM, so you’ll get good performance with everything from demanding programs to modern games.
The only spec that’s suffered is the storage, but the 500GB hard disk drive is only slightly smaller than average. Considering that the 6134TX is also lighter than most at 2.54kg, it’s clear that despite one small compromise this allrounder is still a powerful notebook.
