The deal: HP Pavilion dv6-6b00ax - AMD A-Series A6 allrounder with strong graphics - $719.40
For $719.40 the 15.6in HP Pavilion dv6-6b00ax offers great bang for buck and is one of the better deals in Harvey Norman’s 40% off sale on all AMD A-Series equipped notebooks. A mid-range AMD A-Series A6 processor gives the 6b00ax enough computing power to handle most modern software, with multi-tasking and system performance helped along by the 4GB of RAM. The graphics performance of the 6b00ax is strong thanks to the AMD Radeon HD 6755G2 Dual Graphics setup. It’s a combination of the AMD Radeon HD 6750M dedicated graphics card and AMD Radeon HD 6520G integrated graphics. What’s also good for the price is the 640GB hard disk drive, which is larger than average.
Processor
The 6b00ax has the AMD A-Series A6-3410MX (1.8GHz), a mid-range AMD processor which can run productivity applications and some intensive software. It can speed up to 2.5GHz if a more demanding program is running.
Graphics
It has AMD Radeon HD 6755G2 Dual Graphics, which is a combination of an AMD Radeon HD 6750M dedicated graphics card and AMD Radeon HD 6520G integrated graphics. It will be able to run most modern games at high settings, while more demanding titles should run at medium to high settings.
RAM
4GB of RAM is enough to run several programs at once smoothly. This will be sufficient for moderately intensive software and HD video editing as well.
Storage
A 640GB hard disk drive is large enough for plenty of multimedia files along with programs and documents.
Screen
The 6b00ax sports a 15.6in (1,366 x 768 resolution) gloss screen. The gloss screen does make outdoor usage a bit of a struggle, but stay out of direct sunlight and it'll be fine.
Portability
The portability is average, because the 6b00ax weighs 2.63kg and is 35.2mm thick. It'll be straightforward to carry around.
