For $879 the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 14 is a very worthwhile notebook. It has an Intel Core i3-370M running at 2.4GHz, which is one of the faster Intel Core i3 processors. Core i3s are faster than any of the last generation Core 2 Duos, so despite being the bottom of the current range of Intel chips, they're still among the faster processors available. The onboard graphics limit games to only rather old ones, but with 2GB of RAM you’ll still be watching movies and running a few programs at once without issue.
The 250GB hard drive is a bit small for this price, but it’ll still store a fair amount of stuff. A 14in (1366x768 resolution) screen is good, as you occasionally find lower 1280x600 resolution screens at this price bracket. The 2.32kg weight is moderately light, and it’s physically on the smaller side; 344mm width, 233mm depth, and 39mm thickness. If gaming isn’t your concern but you still need computing power, this notebook should be in your sights.
