Like the Lenovo special before it, this is Sydney only, but since it's so insane, we have to mention it. For only $849 ($699 after a cashback) at retailer Orange IT the 15.6in Lenovo IdeaPad Y560P (4397M2M) is a terrifically cheap high-end allrounder.
The most impressive feature for the price is the 2nd Gen Intel Core i7, but you also get heaps of storage, RAM equal to that in most gaming notebooks and a potent mid-range dedicated graphics card. However you look at it, this is a real bargain.
The 2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2630QM (2GHz) is a very fast quad core processor, and if all its raw power is not enough, the CPU can speed up to 2.9GHz using Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology if an application needs an extra kick. But for this notebook, it only gets better from here; the Y560P has 8GB of RAM and a huge 750GB hard disk drive, specs that much more expensive allrounders struggle to match.
There’s also a mid-range AMD Radeon HD 6570M dedicated graphics card that’s enough to run newer games like Portal 2 on high settings on the 15.6in (1,366x768 resolution) screen. This powerful Lenovo is kind of heavy at 2.7kg but not unexpected for such a powerful machine.
If you're in Sydney and are looking for a powerful all-rounder, the stock price of this machine makes it good value. Add the cashback, and a machine with this kind of spec for under $700 is simply insane.
