Starting tomorrow, ALDI is selling the very nice Medion Akoya E1222 10 Design for just $389. The Intel Atom N455 is the same as the Intel Atom N450 except that it runs a touch cooler. What makes this netbook special is that it also has Windows 7 Starter and a 250GB hard drive; at entry level, this is very good value in a market where Windows XP and a 160GB hard drive are still common.
You won’t do any gaming with the onboard graphics, but basic general computing is comfortably in this netbook’s grasp. The 1GB of RAM and 10in (1024x600) screen are about typical.
It’s very light as well, coming in at only 1.1kg. This netbook will sell out very, very quickly. If you want a netbook, get this one if you can.
Another nice bonus is Aldi's offer to let you return the notebook to them within 60 days if you're unsatisfied for any reason.
