ALDI notebook specials tend to be very good value for money, and for $799 the Medion Akoya E7214 continues the trend. The Intel Core i3-350M (2.26 GHz) isn’t the fastest, but for this price it’s unusually good. While it only has onboard graphics, the other specs are very reasonable, including 3GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive.
The truly outstanding feature here is the 17.3in (1600x900 resolution) screen, a component that many dedicated entertainment notebooks often don’t have. You’ll definitely be enjoying watching HD movies with this notebook, or any computing task that benefits from having a large, high quality screen.
With the large screen comes a large 3.2kg weight. Portability definitely suffers here, and this is worsened by the fact that it’s 420mm wide and 290mm deep. Nonetheless it’s still a great value notebook with some genuinely great specs, so if you need a large screen on a budget this is the way to get it.
