The deal: Motorola Xoom - very low price on Android 3.2 tablet [WA, SA, NT Only] - $349.00
Although not as aggressive as the boxing day sale, for $349 the Motorola Xoom (Wi-Fi) is still pretty spectacular value for money. It’s got 32GB of flash storage, a slew of ports and pretty remarkable build quality. The aluminium backing simply feels great to the touch, so this is far from budget quality despite the seriously budget pricing. If you need a full fat Android Honeycomb 3.2 (with a promised later update to Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0) then this is just about the best current option available. This special is only available at Retravisions in WA, SA and NT.
One of the key features of any tablet, the screen, is an area where the Xoom stands tall. The 10.1in (1,280x800 resolution) screen has vibrant colours and is pleasant to use, and the performance will be snappy due to the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and 1GB of RAM. Although there’s no way to expand to 32GB of flash storage, there is a Micro-USB 2.0 port and a Micro-HDMI port that make connecting the Xoom to other devices pretty straightforward as long as you’ve got the right dongles.
The Xoom is heavier than some newer tablets at 730 grams, but that’s still light enough to easily carry around. This is also the Wi-Fi only model, but with both Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi it’s still got respectable wireless connectivity. There are also front and rear cameras, stereo speakers and an in-built microphone so while a MicroSD card reader would be welcome the Xoom’s hardware is still reasonable.
