The deal: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 - the price war continues on svelte Android tablet - $429.00
UPDATE: According to media reports WOW Sight and Sound has gone into receivership, so this deal may or may not be available depending on whether WOW storefronts are open for business during proceedings.
It’s only been days since Samsung dropped the RRP on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (16GB), and now WOW Sight and Sound have it for a mere $429. That’s a brilliant price for such a svelte tablet, because at 565 grams it’s lighter than the already light Apple iPad 2 or ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime. It’s also vanishingly thin at 8.6mm, so for portability the Galaxy Tab is very nearly the best there is for a 10.1in tablet.
The Galaxy Tab’s 10.1in (1,280 x 800 resolution) capacitive screen is brilliant both for the colour quality and viewing angles. It’s also very responsive when running Android Honeycomb 3.1 and there’s a promised update this year to Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.
Much like the Apple iPad 2 there’s not much in the way of ports aside from a headphone jack, but for that kind of portability it’s a necessary sacrifice unless you want to spend $150 more on the Toshiba AT200/001. There’s also only 16GB of flash storage, which while expected for the price does mean you’ll need to exercise some restraint when installing apps.
We're not sure when the special ends, but when WOW Sight and Sound publishes a catalogue with that information we'll update the special.
