Notebook Hunter

For $1796 the Toshiba Satellite A660/07U is a fully featured entertainment notebook that’s definitely worth the asking price. Key here is the inclusion of a Blu-ray reader and a TV tuner; both of these together provide complete entertainment functionality. The 16in screen is only HD resolution (1366x768), but that’s still more than good enough to take advantage of the Blu-ray. The  HDMI port also lets you plug this notebook into your TV if it’s also got an HDMI port.

The other components are all good, including a potent Intel Core i7-740QM processor. In a notebook you won’t find many faster than this one. The graphics processor is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M, a very respectable mid-range offering from NVIDIA. 4GB of RAM and a 640GB hard drive round out the specs to give you a very capable entertainment notebook.

While it’s a bit heavy compared to similarly sized notebooks, it’s not overly heavy at 2.62kg. It is physically large though, measuring 380.5mm wide, 254mm deep, and 35.6mm thick. This entertainment notebook is handily capable of a great deal of things, and at $1796 it’s worth every dollar.
