The Toshiba C650/03R basic notebook has respectable overall specs, and the $50 Dick Smith Electronics gift card is a nice extra. Computing power is provided by an Intel Pentium T4500 (2.3GHz), and while it’s an older processor it will still easily run Windows 7 Home Premium and play movies. Onboard graphics and 2GB of RAM do limit you to basic computing and playing older games, but for this price it’s a fair compromise.
A 320GB hard drive gives you plenty of room for movies, photos, and programs. The 15.6in (1366x768 resolution) screen will ensure good viewing quality. At 2.8kg the weight is distinctly higher than average, but the rest of the measurements are typical of 380mm width, 250mm depth, and 37.9mm thickness.
Basic notebooks are great if you need a big screen and some computing power to do tasks like word processing, watching movies, and similar intensity tasks. The price here is very good, and the gift card pushes it ahead of the pack.
