At $888 the Toshiba Satellite L500/01U is a well priced allrounder notebook with specs to match the price. An Intel Core i3-330M is the slowest member of the Intel Core i3 processor family, but that still puts it among the fastest processors you’ll find in notebooks – it's still faster than any of the previous gen Core 2 Duos, for example. While the ATI Mobility Radeon 4530 graphics processor won’t handle much more than games like World of Warcraft on medium settings, the price is right for that kind of power. You’ll also easily be watching high definition downloaded movies thanks to the Avivo HD video playback acceleration built in to the graphics chip, browsing image heavy websites, and editing large spreadsheets.

The specs are very well rounded overall, and include 4GB of RAM, a 500GB HDD, and a 15.6in (1366x768 resolution) screen. You won’t want to be constantly lugging this notebook around though, as it weights 2.72kg, has 383mm width, 259mm depth, and 39.25mm thickness. However, if you don't need ultimate portability, this is a solid mid-range allrounder notebook, and for this price it’s a great deal.
