Toshiba Qosmio F750 - fully featured entertainment notebook for a fair price

The deal: Toshiba Qosmio F750 - fully featured entertainment notebook for a fair price - $1,299.00

Added 09 March 2012

The 15.6in Toshiba Qosmio F750/066 is attractively priced at $1,299, because while this entertainment notebook might be a little on the bulky side, it makes up for that with a very potent set of specs. For entertainment it’s got a Blu-ray burner and a TV tuner along with specs that are easily sufficient for media-related tasks. For example, encoding movies is well within the reach of the speedy 2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2670QM processor (and 8GB of RAM). The screen admittedly isn’t full HD, but there’s an HDMI port, so plugging the 2.8kg F750 into an external screen or TV won't be an issue.

Processor
The F750 features a 2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2670QM (2.2GHz), a high-end processor that can run intensive software and productivity applications without any difficulty. It can burst up to 3.1GHz using Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology if a particularly demanding program is running.

Graphics
It comes with a dedicated graphics card called the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M. It’s one of the better mid-range offerings from NVIDIA, and it will be able to handle most modern games at medium to high settings.

RAM
8GB of RAM is enough to either run many programs at once fluidly or run very intensive image and video-editing software.

Storage
A very large 1,000GB hard disk drive can store plenty of media content.

Screen
The F750 sports a 15.6in (1,366 x 768 resolution) gloss screen. The resolution is average for the screen size.

Portability
The F750 is less portable than average, because it weighs 2.8kg and is 34.8mm thick. Although it can be moved around, a decent notebook backpack should be considered.

Other Features
The F750 has a Blu-ray burner, which allows it to play Blu-ray movies or rip them to the F750’s storage. It also has a TV tuner, which makes it possible to watch live TV on the F750 and also to record live TV to the F750’s storage.
