The deal: Toshiba Satellite F60/007 - fully featured entertainment notebook under $1600 - $1,599.00
Blu-Ray players usually bump up the cost of notebooks considerably, so the Toshiba Satellite F60/00Y for $1599 is a surprisingly well-priced and fully featured entertainment notebook. An Intel Core i7-620M processor is one of the fastest Intel Core i7 processors, making it one of the best available processors - full stop. The NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M is good though not top-of-the-line. It's one of NVIDIA’s faster graphics processors, though there are definitely still faster ones. Games like Modern Warfare 2 on low to medium settings won’t cause any strain here. For that matter neither will video editing, watching movies, or simply working with many apps open at once.
A 500GB hard drive and 4GB of RAM are about average for this price, as is the 15.6in (1366x768 resolution) screen. It’s not Blu-Ray full HD resolution, but it’s still more than acceptable, and well higher than DVD resolution, so you'll still appreciate the Blu-Ray picture quality. Entertainment wise, this notebook has the two key features you need; a Blu-Ray reader and a TV tuner. For the price having both of these is a real bargain, and that’s before you remember the powerful components mentioned before.
As a result of all that hardware, this notebook isn’t exactly thin and light. 2.8kg is distinctly heavy, and 387.6mm width, 266.8mm depth, and 34.8mm thickness certainly lower portability. Nonetheless, this is a great bargain on a great entertainment notebook.
