For only $679 the 13.3in Toshiba Satellite L730/018 is a powerful ultraportable whose specs are equal to those of a more expensive basic notebook. It weighs only 2.1kg and has a 2nd Gen Intel Core i5-2410M (2.3GHz) processor, so if you need a lot of computing power on the move the L730’s a very compelling option.
Choosing a notebook is a subjective thing, but if we're asked what kind of notebook size is the ideal for a notebook, we'll say 13in every time. That screen size makes a notebook much more comfortably portable, and as in this Satellite L730, a 13.3 screen can still pack as many pixels (1,366x768) as a you typically find on a bigger, 15.6in notebook.
But you really win when the 13in notebook is as powerful as the bigger ones, which, again, is the case with this Toshiba. In addition to the Core i5 processor there’s 4GB of RAM, ensuring good overall performance. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 will be sufficient to run modern games at low settings so you're not entirely deprived of gaming on such a light machine.
The 640GB hard disk drive of the L730 is generous by ultraportable standards, and should be sufficient for most users. There’s also a DVD burner. While it may not be the lightest ultraportable on the market the L730 is certainly very spectacular for the price.
