Notebook Hunter

Officeworks has dropped the price again on the 15.6in Toshiba Satellite L750/0QM, and it’s now an even more affordable $599. This white mid-range basic notebook has a fast 2nd Gen Intel Core i5 processor together with 4GB of RAM, making it well-suited to running modern software and multi-tasking. Although the keyboard is generally well-spaced, the smaller-than-average spacebar may be somewhat annoying for some.

Processor
The L750 has a 2nd Gen Intel Core i5-2430M (2.4GHz), a mid-range processor that will have no problems with productivity applications and most intensive software. It can burst up to 3GHz using Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology if a particularly demanding program is running.

Graphics
It comes with an integrated graphics solution called Intel HD Graphics 3000. It’s on par with a low-end dedicated graphics card, and is sufficient for modern games at the lowest settings.

RAM
4GB of RAM is enough to run several programs at once smoothly. It’s more than enough to ensure fluid overall system performance with Windows 7 Home Premium.

Storage
A 640GB hard disk drive is large enough for important files along with a small media library.

Screen
The L750 sports a 15.6in (1,366 x 768 resolution) gloss screen. The gloss screen should have better colour richness when compared to a matte screen, but the reflectiveness will make it a bit difficult to use in direct sunlight.

Portability
The L750 has average portability, because it weighs 2.6kg and is 37.5mm thick. It's a little heavy, but can still be carried around easily enough.
