Toshiba Satellite P750 - exceptionally low price on 2nd Gen Core i7 all-rounder

The deal: Toshiba Satellite P750 - exceptionally low price on 2nd Gen Core i7 all-rounder - $595.00

Added 21 June 2012

We always expected retailers to start aggressively discounting notebooks with 2nd Gen Intel Core processors, and Dick Smith’s exceeded those expectations. They’re selling the 15.6in Toshiba Satellite P750/02J for only $595, an unbelievable price considering that up until now at this pricepoint you’d normally be looking at an entry-level all-rounder with a 2nd Gen Intel Core i3 at best. The P750 has a 2nd Gen Intel Core i7, a mid-range NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M, a 750GB hard disk drive and a TV tuner. That’s a lot of versatility for the price and is pretty spectacular value for money overall.

See a summary of the specs below.

Processor
The P750 has a 2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2630QM (2GHz), a high-end processor that is able to run intensive software and productivity applications without any difficulty. It can burst up to 2.9GHz using Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology if a particularly demanding program is running.

Graphics
It has a dedicated graphics card called the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M. It’s one of the better mid-range offerings from NVIDIA, and it will be able to handle most modern games at medium to high settings.

RAM
4GB of RAM is enough to run several programs at once smoothly.

Storage
A 750GB hard disk drive is big enough to store a fair amount of recorded TV from the TV tuner.

Screen
The P750 sports a 15.6in (1,366 x 768 resolution) gloss screen. This is about average for an all-rounder.

Portability
It has average portability, because it weighs 2.6kg and is 35.6mm thick. It'll be straightforward to carry around.

Other Features
The P750 has a TV tuner, which makes it possible to watch live TV on it and also to record live TV to its hard disk drive storage.
