Notebook Hunter

For a mere $663 the 15.6in Toshiba Satellite P750/02T is a versatile mid-range allrounder that’s an exceptionally good bargain when you take a close look at the specs. In addition to having a 2nd Gen Intel Core i5 and a strong mid-range dedicated graphics card, it has a TV tuner along with a HDD big enough to actually record a fair bit of TV. Considering that the price tag is smaller than that of a basic notebook with an equivalent processor, it’s clear the P750 is a superb bargain.

A Core i5-2410M (2.3GHz) is certainly powerful enough for productivity applications or more demanding tasks like encoding recorded TV shows. With the 4GB or RAM it can run several programs smoothly at once,  while gamers will get plenty of use out of the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M dedicated graphics card, which is powerful enough to run newer games like Portal 2 at high settings on the 15.6in (1,366x768 resolution) screen.

 Topping it off is a large 750GB hard disk drive, which is larger than found in most mid-range allrounders that are more expensive. This is a really big-hitting package for the price.
