Thin and light notebooks have always been very expensive due to the specialised design needed for them to be, well, thin and light. The Toshiba Satellite T110D/00C for $699 is helping dispel that idea. It comes in at only 1.5kg, and measures a svelte 286x211x37.6 mm. The thickness is admittedly average, but the footprint and weight are both small.
The AMD Athlon Neo MV 40 CPU is about par with mid range Intel Atom CPUs, and the ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card is low end as well. Older games will run at low settings, but not much else will. It will cope well with general computing. The 250GB hard drive, 2GB of RAM, and 11.6in (1366x768) screen are all typical for this price bracket.
It may not have the raw horsepower of comparably priced regular notebooks, but it’s much more portable then they could hope to be. If nothing but a thin and light notebook will do, for $699 this is a fine choice.
