The SwordM from Thermaltake is supposedly designed using the same streamlined curves found on swords used by ancient Chinese warriors.

If that kind of thing appeals, then this might be the case for you. The SwordM comes in two flavours: a standard air-cooled system and a pre-specced water-cooling case. Just add PC components.

The SwordM is a fine example of extreme over-engineering. The unit uses hydraulic cams to allow you to gently open the top of the case (not that’s its required very often), along with hard-finish aluminium fins on the side panels to cool passively. The cooling in this case in general is excellent, though the air version can get a bit noisy. Consider the water-cooling version if this one appeals, just to cut down on sound.

Building in the SwordM isn’t too messy, with a decent cable-routing system. There’s a panel which covers the back of the PC, hiding cables and outputs from sight, but consider that if you need to plug something else in behind there, you’re going to need enough room to swing open the door.

The attention to detail and construction of the case is great, but some of the features don’t feel very practical. The SwordM is definitely more show than go.
