Pure power, no frills

German engineering. Best in the world! Stereotypes aside, Tagan’s series of power supplies have been impressing PC enthusiasts around the globe for a few years now.
Though recently they’ve been known for going a tad over the top (who needs a 1,300W PSU, really?), the U33 and 2Force II lines of PSUs are well-respected.
This model, the 2-Force II TG900-U33 is a 900W power supply built for efficiency and quietness. The 900W measurement is a metric of the unit’s average upper end output (as it should be), supporting a spike to 1,000W without a problem.
It’s a no-frills solution and it comes in plain black with no fancy LEDs or software connections, but unfortunately also no removable cables. Though you’d only need a high- end PSU if you’re powering a load of gear, especially graphics cards and hard disk drives, it’s still nice to make your PC breathe a little easier by removing unneeded cables. On the bench the Tagan 2-Force II TG900-U33 ran quietly and solidly. BIOS reported spot-on feeds for all 12v and 3.3v lines. It also ran surprisingly quietly. Though we wouldn’t call it silent by any stretch, it was noticeably quieter than the Gigabyte Odin GT when run up side by side.
If you’re in the market for a PSU that will provide clean, quiet power with none of the fancy frills, then the Tagan 2-Force II TG900-U33 will suit you down to the ground.
