BlackBerry fans will get an official gathering place when RIM opens its new ‘My BlackBerry’ Web site, which is already running in invitation-only ‘private beta’ mode.
BlackBerry users have always been something of a clique, although not as rabidly so as iPhone fans or even Nokia die-hards.
Perhaps that’s because many BlackBerry customers have the device for very functional reasons – it’s a business tool, often issued to them by their company and used for phone calls, email and not much else.
RIM’s latest ploy to boost the BlackBerry love is by giving users their own gathering place, dubbed My BlackBerry and now open on an invitation-only basis at
blackberry.com/myblackberry.
Part social network and part old-style bulletin board, users can swap tips and tricks on their BlackBerry, discuss applications and accessories and generally hang with fellow CrackBerry – sorry, BlackBerry – addicts.
That said, we’re sure the
real fans will still be found on ‘unofficial’ sites like
CrackBerry.com and
BlackBerry Cool.
