			<description><![CDATA[Further to the above - I came to this thread because I was going to change to Telstra too. </br></br>I thought that I didnt have any other options. The coverage by Optus where I live (on the edge of a National Park on the north shore of Sydney) has varied over the last year. Data speeds vary and the Blackbery display switches from 3G to GPRS frequently. </br></br>About 6 months ago I also took a look at Vodaphones coverage to see if they were at all competitive. I concluded at the time they were not as I was on a fringe area where 3G was "in the street" only. During the last few days I have taken another look online at coverage maps and have also spoken with a Vodaphone call centre and shop. It seems to me that there has been a massive improvement in Vodaphone's Sydney and regional coverage at 3G.</br></br>Please let me know if you think I am misinformed or would be making the wrong decision to take our business to Vodaphone ? Any views would be greatly appreciated.]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[Thanks Dan. I rang vodaphone and spoke with a call centre in Cairo. The line was clear and I was able to understand the consultant by comparison with the terrible service/noise/voice clarity I have experienced with Optus Philippines call centre. I also compared the coverage maps as printed and the online changes that were predominantly made around August 31. It seems to me that the area in which I live is covered with 3G 2100 for mobile broadband, voice, text and internet. The area is also covered by 2G but not 3G 900. My understanding is that my existing handset Blackberry Bold 9000 can operate on both 900 and 2100 so I am not sure if I follow your point given that 2100 is the more recent higher tech network in any case. </br></br>I am trying to accomplish whether Vodaphone has made some genuine network improvements and whether it is now worthwhile to consider them particularly given their all-in $114 package and the lower package options also. </br></br>Any views on this would be greatly welcomed. I expect to receive a letter from the TIO early next week to confirm that I first need to port my exisiting number to a new carrier before closing the Optus account.]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[Ok - my judgement is that Telstra is the last corporate that I would like to support. My experience of Optus has been horrific. With the assistance of the TIO I did not let them off the hook with their billing errors and exponentials mistakes. They wrote off $3,800 and after resetting to a zero balance it only took them a month to start making mistakes with the data connection, with the billing of things from the past that were from a previous contract that had terminated and credits that were agreed by call centre representatives but not applied. </br></br>So again with the TIO help we are terminating our Optus account totally, prematurely and without penalty. I am currently waiting for the paperwork to arrive.</br></br>So I hear that as of 31 August Vodaphone network has improved substantially. There is an all in email/internet data and unlimited phone/sms/1300 deal for $114. That appears about our only option now. Hopefully we dont have to bother reading the many pages of printout each month. I had to with Optus because of their creative accounting and oh what fun it was calling a Phillipine call centre to complain !]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[Well I just arrived here from a search engine. I have had all my home and business products/services with Optus. With our business Blackberry account I have experienced a nightmare of problems with Optus. I complained to the TIO and after 8 months into a contract Optus advised the TIO that they were prepared to write off the balance on our account (about $3500 at the time. They offered us the option of going to another Telco or they would restart the account at a zero balance. sadly I then agreed to a reset to $0. Since then we have been billed for phones that had contracts cancelled 18 months ago etc etc. I went back to TIO who contacted Optus and showed Optus yet again their various errors. So now they have decided to release our contract. Should I try Vodaphone based on price and better network coverage as of 31 August 2009 or should I pay the significant premium to go with Telstra ???]]></description>
