APC May 2013 DVD has wrong program

Hi all, I would like to apologise for the missing software SSD Fresh 2013 on the May 2013 disc. Please go to the DVD support page to receive a download link via email.

The software is missing from the disc due to a production error, which saw an earlier master, without the SSD Fresh program, sent to the DVD replicators by mistake. It happened when the original, correct master had to be resent due to a checksum error. Unfortunately, a much earlier version of the master was sent instead.

We apologise for the inconvenience and will send you a download link as soon as you submit the request form on the DVD support page.

If all you want to do is type, get yourself a netbook, but not just any netbook, a Toshiba BN550D. As far as we're concerned this new netbook is the top-gun of netbooks. Not only does it looks great in some amazing colour/texture schemes, but comes with the Fusion graphics engine, which means it will handle graphics like a notebook. And it's got plenty of power to run Office apps without any drama. A real little beauty. We wrote about it here. If you want something bigger than a netbook, but still in the light and portable category, go up to this Samsung. A great little allrounder machine but very portable.

A review of APC Magazine Tablet article

Hi Pete

Understand where you're coming from, but you're adopting the spec vs spec school of reviewing. A tablet has more ports than another, therefore it must be better. That is a valid approach if the main way you judge a product is how feature-rich it is. We judge a product based on how good it is at its intended mission (and maybe we do need to spell this out better). Most people buy tablets to surf the web, send emails, and play music and movies. They don't buy tablets because they want to connect third party drives to them or get onto GPS.
So things like weight are important, 100g of extra weight might not sound like much, but when you are holding a tablet up all day it makes itself felt. Content also makes a difference, and here, with iTunes and the App Store (which now has hundreds of magazines etc on it) the iPad 2 annihilates the Acer/Android combo.
I thought afterwards we were harsh giving the iPad 2 an 8/10. Actually, we scored the iPad 2 and the Acer Iconia A500 Tab the same, acknowleding that the A500 is also a pretty good tablet - in our view, now that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been prevented from hitting the market - still the top Android tablet.
Yes, agree about the comparison table, but we had limited space in the mag so we dropped it. When we publish the comparison online, you'll find a table with it.
