So yesterday at some stage Vista decided to nuke my boot manager. It had booted via XOSL that morning, and last night I went to boot into XP to record a TV show... But XOSL wasn't there.

Anyway, having gone and fixed that, Vista refused to boot again, forcing me to find the DVD and do the boot loader repair dance.

So, here's the question....
Is anyone else really getting ticked off by the Vista bootloader being less stable than a 3 legged elephant on rubber stilts?
Did you buy VU?
Nope. Glad I didn't too. Nothing in it is that Ultimate, and the extras are pathetic. I have downloaded the Dreamscenes and been disappointed by the lack of resolution. I didn't even bother with the silly game they included.
Try to develop some maturity
I suspect FindTheWalrus has already... Part of that buying something and then regretting it thing...
Also, I read the post to be 100% true. Consumers in general are idiots, and most don't learn about duds until they've bought on.
The last Plus CD edition was for Windows XP (it was one Disc and then launched with two disc edition) nothing interesting on that add on just one or two games.
Yep. And dont forget the XP Styles. All of them looked the same, but hey... They were different colours. Which is exactly why I was not expecting much from Ultimate Extras (that and the fact that they initially said it would be US only).

Overall though, if you use the thing on average for about 5 hours a week, then a single lamp will last 2-5 years (depending on various other factors). The lamp cost isn't that big a deal over that time.

Adding time/date stamps to posts would significantly improve things... You'd have some idea if you were looking at new posts or week old ones. If it's the thing I'm thinking of, a cryptic Javascript error pops up saying the post failed, then you are left there with a greyed out dialog you can't do anything with but close (or if you're lucky, you can copy the message then close it).

Speaking of comments and issues. I find the View All thing painful. It's more confusing that having a page full of comments. How do you know if there are more or not without clicking it? And worse... When you post while not viewing all, if your post is hidden, you don't get to see it until you reload again with the view all link!

As a result I've just reported one of my own posts since it no longer makes sense (the one wondering how long before they add a button to report the whole thread). That always feels weird. APC doesn't, which makes it hard to explain the part you are offended by or why you're reporting your own post (since you also can't delete your own posts on the articles).

Carpoint ad seeing "enter" key in FF

I first thought this was just something weird with a stuck CTRL key or similar, but it's happening regularly to me now....

Pressing enter while an APC article is open in Firefox (tried IE - it just says "errors in page" instead) causes new tabs to load with the Carpoint website. I presume it's due to a Flash based ad on a page, but it's stealing the "ENTER" input even when I'm typing into a text box (such as to type this post).
It seems also to open a copy for every tab that's got an APC page open - so if I have 5 or 6 stories open in tabs, I get 5 or 6 new tabs of the Carpoint page.

I've tried blocking msads.net at my local proxy, which stops the ad from showing, but I'm still getting the ENTER effect - I guess that means it's somewhere else in the page that actually steals the input.

I solved it by blocking the ad server at the proxy at home and at work - now no one at home or work sees the ads served by that service (MSN ads?).

And I can press enter as much as I want :P

I've been ignoring and deleting the spam comment emails since I last posted here... But got 2 more tonight and I'm in a complaining mood..

APC, are emails containing comments being sent out without being filtered by the anti-spam systems? I have been getting spam comments via email on many articles for months. Each time I check one, the comment is not visible on the article, suggesting it didn't pass the anti-spam tests - yet I still get emails.

Today it was about Windows 7 SP1, posted to an article over 12 months old. The main post content was straight from the top of the first page linked to in the article. Then they had their website URL.
