MacBook Pro to finally get its Intel Core i5 upgrade next month?

It has been a long time since Apple has updated its MacBook Pro line. An internal email leaked last month that pointed to a new MacBook Pro update with the notebooks getting an Intel Core i5 processor update. Some expected that update to happen when the iPad was announced, but no new MacBooks were offered.

There are various reports popping up online that suggest new MacBook Pros with unspecified upgrades are due to hit retail locations on March 14. MacRumors reports that screen shots have been turning up online at Gizmodo and AppleInsider pointing to placeholders and product SKU numbers for new MacBook computers in the inventory systems of large retailers in Canada and America.

Exactly what upgrades will come, if they come at all, are unknown. We can bet that the MacBook Pro line will get faster processors from the Intel Core i5 line and I wouldn't be surprised to see the machines get some Core i7 love in the high-end when the updates do finally surface. I also wonder if the MacBook Pro line will get a Blu-ray player option. As always, there is no official response from tight-lipped Apple on products that have not been announced.
