Free ‘developer days’ held in Sydney and Brisbane next week provide an introduction to Samsung’s new Linux-based smartphone OS.

Samsung hopes to seed the local ecosystem for its Bada smartphone OS with the first Bada Developer Days being held next week.

The free day-long workshops kick off in Brisbane on Monday August 2nd at Brisbane’s Hilton Hotel, before moving to the Maritime Museum at Sydney on Wednesday August 4th.

The morning session provides an introduction to the Linux-based OS while the afternoon allows for a deeper dive into Bada widgets and apps and the Bada UI.

Pre-registered attendees are in the running to win a Samsung 3DTV. Programmers can also sign up for Samsung’s Bada Developer Challenge, which boasts a cool US$300,000 for the winner and a total prize pool of US$2.7 million – yes, you read that right, just over A$3 million. Something tells us that Samsung is serious about Bada…
