Server tour: Power

The server's power supply

To remove a power supply, simply push the lever and slide the power supply outward.

At the back of the server, you can see the two redundant power supplied. The marron latches are used to lock the supply in place.

Each power supply is connected to a mini distribution board on the main board via a PCB connection.

Each power supply allows for one IEC-320 C13 power cable to be plugged in – the same kind of power cable that is probably plugged into the back of your PC. A status LED, the maroon latch and pull-handle can also be seen in this image.

The underside of the server lid also contains useful diagrams that help you identify components within the server.

The lid has now been placed on the server again and it has been pushed back into the rack. Only one of the power supplies has been connected to power intentionally at this stage.
