New Eee netbooks pack Atom N450 CPUs and long battery life.
The last new netbook from Asus we talked about was the
Eee 1201N that was unveiled back in November. Asus has released official photos and details on the new
Eee 1005P and 1005PE netbooks. The machines don’t vary much in the looks department from the oddly named line of seashell netbooks that we are familiar with.

The main changes are on the inside with the netbooks running the new Intel Atom N450 CPU at 1.66GHz. Both of the netbooks will have 10.1-inch displays with a resolution of 1024 x 600. Memory is 1GB of RAM and graphics are via Intel GMA3150. Storage options include a 160GB or 250GB HDD.
The big difference between the two models is that the 1005PE has a larger battery that claims to provide 12 hours of run time per charge. Manufacturer's claims seldom live up to real world use, but even if the machine can last for eight hours, it will be good. Converted prices from the UK website Lambda Tech peg the machines at the equivalent of $442 for the 1005P and $493 for the 1005PE. We all know straight converted prices are typically much lower than we end up paying here at home.
