SRF unveils tiny Wi-Fi tablet perfect for kitchen

Hubster is a slick little Internet device sized perfectly for the countertop.

I have had several devices and netbooks that were designed to be put into a kitchen and show things from the Internet like recipes and cooking programs or news. The problem is always the same with them -- they are too large. What I really want in an internet device for the kitchen is something small and very compact that doesn't stand out when not in use.

SRF has just introduced the perfect device for my kitchen needs called the SRF Hubster. The Hubster is currently in trials across France and features a small touchscreen that can stream photos, music, video and offers internet access over Wi-Fi or wired connections.

The device also features voice recording so you can leave reminders for your significant other to cook dinner. The device appears to stream video as well so you can watch YouTube while you cook. Storage is via SD/SDHC memory cards and the device supports MP3, WAV, WMA, and RA audio files along with FLV and MP4 video. The device will sell for €129 ($AU222) in France when it launches on June 15, which sounds like the right price to us!
