If you want the best performance, it's time to gear up. In part two of our gaming accessories roundup, we're checking out the best gaming mice that can give you the killer edge.

We wouldn’t call it as critical as a tightrope walk, but getting the right balance in the weight of your mouse can make all the difference between winning and losing. If your mouse is too light you might pull up too short in big movements, or if it’s too heavy, you might overshoot your target.

Mice like the Logitech Gaming Mouse G500 make getting the right mix nice and easy, with small metal weights you can add in to the mouse to get it just right. It’s not unique to the G500, but it’s worth its weights in gold.

The G500 also managed to fit in more buttons than its bigger brother the G9x, while still including the laser sensor (also “gaming grade”) and on-board memory for storing your custom button setups. The down side to the G500 is that it’s a big mouse, not just in length and width, but also in height.

If you’re considering this mouse, and you should, take a look at it in the shops before you make your ultimate purchasing decision. The retail packaging allows you to get your hand over it to see if it will work for you — and it’s worth checking.

Available from Logitech, retailing for $149.

I would love to know a place where I could test/hold a few of these mice before purchasing. I live in Melb south eastern suburbs.
My current mouse is a Logitec MX1000 which I think was the first laser mouse from Logitec its the most comfortable mouse but I am sure its life is limited.

You can get the DeathAdder V 2 in Left Handed at www.pccasegear.com last i checked.

Also why no Mamba ? its pretty much the best of both worlds gaming performance in a wireless package.

i dont think it ship's with a bluetooth receiver. i know the Orochi doesn't.

I have a client that has an orochi, and could never get it working wirelessly.

I wanna know why they didn't review the TRON mouse. that things cool. the mat glows leaving a trail and everything :)

I have had my mamba for about 6 months now and its never skipped a beat i don't think its Bluetooth, i always assumed wireless 2.4GHz but at 1000Hz polling rate is what makes the difference, i also use it for games and prefer it over a usual chorded mouse as the chord doesn't grip table edge's and monitors etc, therefore giving a much smoother stroke and giving greater accuracy during reflex maneuvers. Also if you have a Off-Chargeable Motherboard then its pretty much a constantly wireless mouse as you charge while you sleep and myself i have USB Power On Enabled so a click of my mouse kicks the beast over.

Chorded and wireless only thing the Mamba lacks is weights however the Li Ion battery in it gives it a great weight and the famous Razer Skin is more comfortable than anything i have used, i had a G9 its nothing on this mouse. Also the glowing docking station adds atmosphere :)

Yeah test the Tron also i would assume its the exact same as a Mamba just with the bio trail glow, looks the part though would suit alienware user's.

no, the troy mouse is not like the mamber. It's VERY small, and feel plasticy, but glows and revs, and leave a trail on the mat in the dark, and is uber geeky,(same client has one as well... likes his toys), and i guess i'd get used to it, but i really didnt like it.

I'm really supprised they didn't review any of the Saitek Mice. the RAT series are a very industrial looking mouse, that's ugly and beautiful all at the same time. I really really like it, cos it's SOOO different to anything else out there.

AND i've read that even thou they are all angles and metal, (they are a bit heavy, but that's ok), they are extremely confortable, and very customizeable, (infinately adjustable thumb rest, that sort of thing).

when my G9X dies, (heheh... i bought mine for $60, guy had it for a week, didn't like it, made an offer... BOOM) am going to seriously consider the RAT7.

I'm not a fan of wireless mice for gaming... that said, there is a WIFI ver, the RAT9, and they both look awesome. Spec's top notch too, and they are on par price wise with the Logitech and razor gear

(i've killed 2 copperheads and a lachesis... thou my dimondback's still going strong)

... edge of desk, my comp lives behind the monitor, (really deep desk), so i dont have the problem.

Personally, the braided cables limit the amount of snag, and i'm really supprised it's taken as long as it has for razor to bring out this.

BTW, a gaming wifi mouse vs an ordinary wifi mouse, when stationary, to save power, an ordinary wifi mouse will pulse the beam. If you move the mouse between pulses, it wont register, and you'll get lag. Gaming' vers, dont pulse, but you get crap battery life.

that said, i'm running a "Darkfeild" logitech NX anywere mouse on my laptop, and for a wifi mouse, it's briliant. Would almost say gaming grade wifi, it tracks that good

Very nice list of gaming mouse. My best gaming mouse is the Thermaltake Level 10. It's a little newer mouse that was developed in collaboration with BMW engineers. I had a chance to use it as a test for five days. The mouse is easy to adapt to any hand size and is very comfortable.

My advice to all those who purchase a new gaming mouse that you first become familiar with the basic features of the mouse in order to choose the best mouse for your needs.
